Frankie Lons Passes Away at 61 Following Drug Overdose

The mother of R&B singer Keyshia Cole, Frankie Lons, passed away at her Oakland, California home on her birthday.

She died at the age of 61 according to her public battle with addiction. She apparently relapsed after a decades-long battle with addiction when she was partying at her Oakland home.

Cole said Lons had checked into rehab and would have been there for 30 days this past February, last year.

Sam as Cole’s brother also confirmed Lons death, that he had been trying to help her stay sober by checking her daily basis. Sam told the entertainment and news that his family  “wants the world to remember Frankie as someone who loved her kids, and who wanted her children to be together. despite their turbulent history.”

Cole was adopted at a young age and raised by their family friends. Her relationship with her biological parents was mostly broken until her burgeoning music career open the way for the family to reconnect.

Her complicated private lives of the singer’s family was recorded on various TV series, such as “Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is” in 2006 and more barely in 2019′s “Keyshia Cole: My New Life” on BET.

Lons and Cole mostly had honest and truthful chats on their shows to addressing Lons’s lifelong struggle with addiction. “I don’t want to live forever,” Lons to Cole in 2019. 

“You’ll always have my protection as a mother, spiritually. Nothing can touch a mother’s love.”
